The state of Texas requires that schools exclude from attendance any students with a fever of 100° or higher. Students may not return to school until fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever suppressing medications. This means a student who is sent home from school with a fever may not return to school the following morning. Cherokee ISD is required by state law to follow this rule.
