Chairman Tommy Taylor Memorial Scholarship - Application Deadline 3/1/2020
The Texas Alliance of Energy Producers is proud to provide a $2,500 scholarship to a high school senior that will be studying in the related field of energy/oil and natural gas.
1) Must be majoring in an energy related field of study (declared major).
2) Must be enrolled as a full time (at least 12 hours) college student for the following Fall semester.
3) Must demonstrate leadership abilities and involvement in student and community organizations.
4) Must apply using the link below no later than March 1, 2020.
Amount of scholarship: $2,500:
1) Scholarship will be paid directly to the college or university.

The Chairman Tommy Taylor Memorial Scholarship was established in 2015 to honor the legacy of Mr. Tommy Taylor. Mr. Taylor served as Chairman of the Board of the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers from 2010 to 2012, and his accomplishments were many. He earned a degree from the University of Texas at Austin in Petroleum Land Management, and he bought and sold oil and gas properties throughout Texas and the nation.
The scholarship will be an ongoing tribute to Mr. Taylor and his commitment to the industry that he loved and to the Texas Alliance.
Texas Farm Bureau 2020 Scholarships – Deadline March 2, 2020 by midnight
TFB District Scholarship (39 scholarships available at $1,000 each and 13 scholarships available at $1,500 each)
TFB Young Farmer & Rancher High School Scholarship (13 scholarships available at $1,000 each)

All students applying for the scholarships must be a member of a Texas Farm Bureau family, with membership remaining current during the duration of the scholarship. TESA Vocational Grant – Application Deadline March 27, 2020
The TESA Vocational Grant Program is open to any prospective student, 18 years of age or older, planning to pursue a vocational/technical (VOC/TECH) course within the State of Texas. Each applicant must be a citizen of the United States of America and a resident of Texas on the date the application is submitted. While graduating high school seniors may apply, the program is not limited to high school seniors. A high school diploma or equivalent GED is not required. Applications must be submitted by March 27, 2020, and may be downloaded here. Applications are also available from Mrs. Franco.
TESA Essay Contest Scholarship – Application Deadline February 21, 2020
The TESA Essay Contest Scholarship is open to any Texas high school student who is a citizen of the United States and a resident of Texas. Download the application and essay topic here. Scholarships of $1000.00, $800.00, and $500.00 will be awarded for the top three essays. Applications are also available from Mrs. Franco.
TESA Teenager of the Year Scholarship – Application Deadline February 21, 2020
The Teenager of the Year Scholarship Contest is open to 2020 graduating High School Seniors who are citizens of the United States and residents of Texas. Applicants will compete for scholarships based on scholastic achievement, leadership and extra-curricular activities, and character. Male and female applicants will compete separately for three scholarships ranging from $1000.00 to $2500.00 each. TESA Four-Year Scholarship – Application Deadline February 21, 2020
The TESA Four-Year Scholarship Program awards six scholarships to three male and three female students from the 2020 graduating classes of Texas high schools. Applicants must be United States citizens and residents of Texas. Each award will be in the amount of $1,250.00 per year for the 2020- 2024 academic years, for a total of $5,000.00 per award Applicants will be judged on financial need, scholarship, leadership and extra-curricular activities, and strength of character, and must be seeking a four-year Bachelor’s Degree. Capital Farm Credit Scholarship – Application Deadline March 4, 2020
Ten $1,000 one-time scholarships will be awarded to students pursuing a degree related to fields in agricultural or natural resources (may include ag communications, ag economics/business, ag education, ecosystem science & management, animal science, viticulture, etc.) or technical vocation supporting agriculture and rural communities and industries. This is a local scholarship open only to students in a 12 county territory that includes San Saba County. Students must plan to attend an accredited vocational or technical school, college or university full time. NAFEPA Scholarships – Application Deadline January 10, 2020
The National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators will award four scholarships, each worth $2500. Two scholarships are for students pursuing degrees in Education. The other two scholarships may be awarded to applicants pursuing degrees in Education or any other field. The following links include the application and additional information:
ACET Scholarship – Application Deadline February 14, 2020
The Association for Compensatory Educators of Texas (ACET) offers twenty $1000 scholarships across the state to students who have, at some time in their school career, been enrolled in a compensatory education program. Cherokee students qualify to apply for this scholarship! The top scoring applicant in the state will also receive the Wade and Sandy Burroughs Scholarship in the amount of $500. Central Texas Farm Credit Scholarship - Deadline 3/20/20 at 4:00 p.m.
This is a local scholarship open only to students in a 19 county territory that includes San Saba County. Five (5) one-time scholarships in the amount of $2,000 will be awarded. Student must pursue an agricultural related degree. These include but are not limited to: agricultural business, agricultural economics, animal science, agricultural education, etc. Student must be accepted to a junior college, community college, or four-year university. FRONTIER BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION DEADLINE 12/13/19
- Topic: Write or produce/film a well-crafted elevator pitch explaining why you would be an ideal hire for the job of your dreams.
- Scenario: You’ve just run into the hiring manager for your ideal job at your dream company. You can’t let this opportunity slip through your fingers, so you decide to take a chance and pitch yourself as a potential candidate. Deliver a short yet thorough elevator pitch about why you would be a good fit at the company. Discuss what initially drew you to the business, and the innovative strides you would make while working there. Be creative, thoughtful, and compelling—remember, you’ve got one (short) shot to make an impression.
- Submission Instructions: Submissions must be in the form of a 200- to 300-word essay OR a 1- to 2-minute video (possible bonus points if it’s in an actual elevator—have some fun with it!). Keep in mind that an elevator ride is not particularly long, so make every word count.
- Criteria: Entrants must be graduating 2020 high school seniors or enrolled undergraduate students actively pursuing a business-related degree at a university, community college, or technical college. Submissions are only open only to students attending school in Texas.
- Qualifications: All entries will be judged based on style, creativity, articulation, and comprehension of the required topic. Submissions with poor spelling and grammar—or lack of professionalism—will not be considered. Remember, you want to stand out and impress the hiring manager, and be taken seriously.

Charles Butt Scholarship for Aspiring Teachers - Application Deadline 12/31/19 at 12:00 p.m.
The Charles Butt Scholarship for Aspiring Teachers is designed to encourage the best and brightest students to consider a future in the teaching profession. The scholarship consists of $8,000-$10,000 in annual funding for up to four years, as well as ongoing professional development opportunities, mentorship from sitting public school educators, and participation in a statewide aspiring teachers network.
