Dear Cherokee ISD Community,
In keeping with Cherokee ISD’s practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying all families and staff that a visitor to our campus was lab-confirmed to have COVID-19. This visitor was on campus on Saturday, January 9, 2021, attending a basketball game. Symptoms started Monday, January 11, 2021. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individual or details that may identify him or her.
Those that were in close contact have been notified on campus have been notified. We ask that you, as always, watch for symptoms of COVID-19. Any of the following symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19 infection:
• Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth;
• Sore throat;
• New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline);
• Diarrhea, vomiting, or muscle pain/aches; or
• New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever
• Loss of taste and smell
If you or any member of the CISD community begins experiencing any of these symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your physician.

Cherokee ISD will have regular start time at 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday, 1/12/21
Due to the inclement weather Cherokee ISD will not have school on Monday, 1/11/21. With the possibility of a 10 am start on Tuesday. We will keep you posted.

Tonight’s Jr High game will be streamed on Lohn ISD’s Facebook page. We will also attempt to stream on Cherokee ISD Athletics FB page.

Just a friendly reminder that Balfour will be on campus Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 9am to take orders for Senior Class Rings, 2021 Graduates will order Cap & Gowns, invitations and other graduation items and any 9th-12th grade student who qualify can order Letterman Jackets.

Today, Dec. 17th is the last day of remote learning for this semester. We know this has not been easy for students, parents or teachers!! Thank you for your patience and understanding!!
Staff will be back on campus Monday, Jan 4th, and students return on Tuesday, Jan 5, 2021. Just a reminder that if staff or students are having COVID-like symptoms when school starts to please stay home. The less exposure we have the more likely we can stay face to face.

This staff member was last present on campus on Thursday, December 3, 2020. Symptoms started Tuesday, December 8, 2020. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individual or details that may identify him or her.
The local health department has been notified. After careful review, we have determined that the COVID positive staff member did not come in contact with students or staff during the infectious period.
While we do not have reason to believe that those who were not in close contact with the infected individual have reason to be concerned, we ask that you, as always, watch for symptoms of COVID-19.

These students were last present on campus on Monday, December 7, 2020. Symptoms started Tuesday, December 8th and Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the names of the individuals or details that may identify him or her.
The local health department has been notified. All parents/guardians of students that were in close contact have been notified. The District will remain in remote learning until the Christmas Break Thursday, December 17, 2020. All activities are cancelled.
While we do not have reason to believe that those who were not in close contact with the infected individual have reason to be concerned, we ask that you, as always, watch for symptoms of COVID-19. If you or any member of the CISD community begins experiencing any of these symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your physician.

Cherokee ISD will remain in remote learning through Thursday, Dec. 17th. All school activities are cancelled until further notice. Due to the number of positive cases and exposure we feel this is in the best interest of our students and staff.

This staff member was last present on campus on November 30, 2020. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individual or details that may identify him or her.
The local health department has been notified. After careful review, we have determined that the COVID positive staff member did not come in contact with students or staff during the infectious period. The District immediately disinfected areas heavily used by the staff member.
While we do not have reason to believe that those who were not in close contact with the infected individual have reason to be concerned, we ask that you, as always, watch for symptoms of COVID-19.
