Fever

The state of Texas requires that schools exclude from attendance any students with a fever. A fever is a temperature of 100° or higher. Students may not return to school until fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever suppressing medications. This means a student who is sent home from school with a fever may not return to school the following morning. Cherokee ISD is required by state law to follow this rule.

(Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Rule §97.7)

The school administrator shall exclude from attendance any child having or suspected of having a communicable condition. Exclusion shall continue until the readmission criteria for the conditions are met. The conditions and readmission criteria are as follows:

Fever - Exclude until fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever suppressing medications. Fever is a temperature of 100° or higher.
