Dear Dual Credit Students and Parents/Guardians,
The Reading and Writing section of the TSI Assessment will be administered Thursday, August 6, 2020, 5pm at the Cherokee High School. The TSI is an assessment that tests college readiness. Students will need to obtain eligible scores on the TSI in order to be able to participate in certain dual credit courses. If you do not meet the TSI eligibility for dual credit enrollment, the test is designed to help determine what type of developmental classes or intervention may be needed to get you fully prepared to succeed. At this time junior students requesting to take the dual credit History will be taking the reading portion of this exam. Senior students requesting to take dual credit English will be taking both the reading and writing portion of the assessment unless I have previously spoken with you regarding being exempt from TSI testing.
The cost of the TSI is $10.00 per assessment. Your student will need to bring a check made to Cherokee ISD on the day of test. The parent’s/guardian’s driver’s license number and date of birth must be written on the check. Students will also need to bring a photo ID on test day. If you do not have a photo ID please notify me ASAP.
Prior to test day students must complete the Pre-Assessment Activity online at https://www.tsipreview.com/welcome/cherokeehs The Pre-Assessment Activity is intended to provide you with important information regarding the TSI test. The PAA will give you sample questions in all 3 sections of study. Remember, at this time you will only be taking the TSI sections I mentioned above. If you do not know the answer on the PAA there is an “I don’t know option”. Please do not be discouraged!! The score on the Pre-Assessment is not recorded it is only to be used as a resource to assist you with preparation for test day.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by phone at 325-622-4298 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org .
